About

Established long ago in spirit — made real in 2025, Calgary, Alberta, canada.

Hi, we’re Lyna & Kim — partners in life, and now … van building. Camp My Minivan is the result of years of dreaming, day-planning, and “one day we should …” conversations finally taking shape. In 2025, parked in a quiet corner of Calgary, Alberta, we picked up tools, sketched ideas, and started turning a Dodge Grand Caravan into our cozy home on wheels.

We’re not full-time vanlifers or pro builders — just two curious, creative souls learning as we go. Our blog is a space to share real progress, honest lessons, and everything in between: from building our bed frame to boiling coffee on a camp stove somewhere off-grid.

If you’ve ever dreamed of hitting the road with someone you love and making a tiny space feel like home, we hope our journey feels like a little invitation to start your own.

Thanks for riding along.

Why a Minivan?

We chose the Dodge Grand Caravan because it offers the perfect balance of practicality, stealth, and comfort.

Its Stow ’n Go seating system gave us the flexibility to reconfigure as we needed — even after removing some seats, we could easily fold or stow the rest to create a flat sleeping surface and free up extra space for storage.

Our Conversion Journey

Our entire conversion took just about one month — from planning layouts to putting in the last screw — so we’d be ready to hit the road by summer in Canada. It was fast-paced, hands-on, and filled with trial and error (plus a few debates over shelf height).

We’ve documented the full process here — not as experts, but as two people figuring it out as we go. Hopefully it helps anyone looking to do the same — or at least makes you feel like you’re not alone in the sawdust.

Where We’ve Been

Our minivan has taken us to national parks, mountain towns, oceanfront lookouts, and cozy city corners.

There’s something magical about having your home on wheels — the freedom to explore without hotel reservations, without a plan, just the road and each other.

What Inspired Us

A big shoutout to Eric Enjoys Earth, whose thoughtful, real-world builds gave us the confidence to start.

Our journey didn’t start with blueprints — it started with YouTube. Like many first-time builders, we fell down the rabbit hole of vanlife creators, scribbled sketches on napkins, and whispered “we could totally do that” at 1 a.m.

We also pulled inspiration from a handful of other creators who showed that you don’t need a sprinter van or a huge budget — just a bit of resourcefulness, a willingness to learn, and a lot of zip ties.

We’re grateful to be part of this larger DIY vanlife community — and now, hopefully, we can pass that spark along to someone else, too.
